What Your Gift of $20 Can Do
When you make a $20 donation to our nonprofit, we’ll put your contribution to immediate work. You help us build full and productive lives for individuals with autism and behavior challenges in our community.
Here are just a few of the things your $20 donation can fund:
- An apple-picking field trip for students to learn about science, healthy eating, and community safety
- Gas for students to visit a public library to volunteer and browse the collections
- A favorite toy or treat providing positive reinforcement to a public-school student when they make progress towards their learning and behavior goals
- Ingredients for a student cooking project – helping students strengthen their independent-living skills
- Gas for a student to travel to their part-time job at a local restaurant – learning job skills with support from a Birchtree instructor
- Cupcakes for a student to celebrate their birthday with friends and teachers
- Gym Fees for students to exercise at a community fitness center – developing healthy habits to last a lifetime

One Student’s Story
When Ben* first started at Birchtree’s day school at age seven, he could barely talk and he struggled to get his needs met. He got so frustrated that he sometimes bit himself or kicked others to communicate.
Birchtree’s autism experts worked with Ben year round, one-on-one and in small groups. Ben learned how to speak, how to read, how to regulate his behavior, and more. Birchtree’s staff traveled with Ben daily so he could practice using his skills in the real world.
Today, you may be in line behind Ben at the grocery store or on a treadmill next to him at the gym. Or maybe you’ll see him at one of his part-time jobs, where he first volunteered as a Birchtree student.

One Student’s Perspective
When I was little, the Birchtree staff did all kinds of programs with me so I could learn social skills and other skills. I hardly remember those times. But I know those services made a difference. I wouldn’t have made it to where I am today without that early help from Birchtree.
