Goal of Birchtree’s Outreach Program for Schools & Agencies

Birchtree’s goal is to promote inclusion and access to the least restrictive environment. Our team of experts is committed to working collaboratively with school teams to help your district build its capacity to provide applied behavior analysis (ABA) programming. Our goal is to teach school staff the skills needed in order for your school to continue on without long-term support from Birchtree.

Consultation Service Area

Consultation and services by Birchtree’s Board Certified Behavior Analysts® (BCBAs®) are offered throughout New England. In-person direct services by Clinical Instructors and Registered Behavior Technicians® (RBTs®) are typically offered in southern New Hampshire, southern Maine, and northern Massachusetts.

Birchtree’s Outreach Program provides applied behavior analysis (ABA) services in public school districts and student homes. Birchtree provides exceptional quality ABA programming, executing a model of supervision and support that goes above and beyond basic requirements.

Technical Assistance Consultation

Birchtree’s Board Certified Behavior Analysts®(BCBAs®) work collaboratively with public school teams to build capacity with ABA programming in their schools. Evidence-based practices and team collaboration are the foundation of Birchtree’s consultation model. Our team of behavior analyst consultants provides consultation services to individual students or to classrooms, programs, and even school-wide support. Our consultation services can be accessed short term or on an ongoing basis.

Birchtree’s Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) are available to support RBT candidates who are non-Birchtree employees as they complete the RBT certification. Birchtree BCBAs are also available to provide ongoing supervision to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) working in public schools.

This includes direct instruction by a Birchtree Clinical Instructor. All of Birchtree’s Clinical Instructors are Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) or are training and working towards acquiring the RBT credential under the supervision of a Birchtree BCBA. Birchtree’s Clinical Instructors implement educational and behavioral programming/student IEPs, using applied behavior analytic methodology to promote communication, social, academic, leisure, motor, and daily living skills. In addition to public school settings, target settings may also include home and community environments. Birchtree Clinical Instructors are trained and supervised by a Birchtree BCBA with the implementation of programming to teach new skills, increase appropriate behaviors and skills, and decrease interfering behaviors.

Birchtree’s BCBAs will collaborate with your team to develop and deliver universal and targeted supports using data and instruction to build capacity with supports in your district as well as to support students’ social, emotional, and behavior needs.

Evaluations & Assessments

A Birchtree BCBA conducts a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) in order to develop hypotheses regarding the reasons why an individual engages in maladaptive behaviors. This is the first step in developing a behavior support plan for a student’s educational team to follow. The process includes interviews, a review of records, and direct observations of the student engaging in the target behavior(s). Information gathered throughout the assessment process is synthesized in a written report.

A Birchtree BCBA conducts a direct observation of the student and collects both anecdotal and empirical data. Information gathered from the observation is synthesized in a written report including recommendations for follow up and ongoing support, if needed. This might be recommended as a first step prior to beginning consultation and direct service from a Birchtree BCBA and Clinical Instructors (RBTs).

A Birchtree BCBA administers a skills-based assessment in order to help identify a student’s strengths and weaknesses across a variety of language and learning skills. This type of assessment can be used to identify any delays or gaps in critical skill areas. A skills-based assessment allows for comparing and contrasting the student’s skills with those of typically developing children. Birchtree’s BCBAs are available to conduct the following:
  • Verbal Behavior Milestones, Assessment, and Placement Program (VB-MAPP)
  • Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills-Revised (ABLLS-R®)
  • Assessment of Functional Living Skills® (AFLS®)
The assessment process includes direct observation of the student, some direct testing of skills listed in the assessment, and interviews with caregivers and educational team members. The information gathered is synthesized in a written report that includes graphic displays of the results in addition to recommendations for developing skill acquisition and behavioral programming as well as support with IEP development.

A Birchtree BCBA reviews a student’s IEP and records in addition to completing interviews and direct observations in order to determine the appropriateness of the student’s programming and the student’s educational setting. The results of the evaluation are presented within a comprehensive written report.

Individualized Services​

Birchtree’s BCBAs and RBTs may be available for individualized requests based on the unique needs of the educational team.

Training & Workshops​

Birchtree’s BCBAs also provide training and workshops for school and agency staff.

Rates
